- Kansas
- Kansas State
- Kentucky
- Duke
First of all, I'm not sure how Duke ended up in my Final Four...I had them playing Villanova in the Elite 8, but when I was filling it out, I really did think the "Big 3" of Duke (Scheyer, Singler, Smith) could get the "W" and beat 'Nova to move onto the Final Four. I think it's funny that they are called the "Big 3" because they're not big at all! In fact they are sort of scrawny, but they can shoot 3's alright...In my opinion, that's what will give them a chance of progressing in the tourney. So, Duke / Kentucky...if it pans out, that will be fun! I have to admit that I didn't watch the infamous 1992 game with the inbound pass and Laettner shot. I've seen the shot countless times, but I didn't watch the game back in 1992, so I don't have the "passion" a lot of KY fans have against Duke. Did you know that that shot was voted as the "#1 NCAA Tournament Buzzer Beater"? #1...ever, according to the ESPN News channel! I watched a show on the top 20 NCAA Tournament Buzzer Beaters, and that topped the list! They did a big interview with Coach K and Pitino and everything! Madness.
Anyway, the games will start this afternoon...how exciting! The entire team at ESPN has chosen Kansas to win it all this year. Even President Obama apparently picked Kansas. While I have them in the final game, because I fell victim to ESPN "group-think", I'm not convinced they're the best team in the nation like people claim. Did you know that in '05 and '06, Kansas was seeded at #3 and #4, respectively, and they got beat in the first round by Bucknell (14) and Bradley (13)? First round!! Sure, they were close games, but the point is Kansas didn't finish. So...I don't know...Lehigh may have a solid chance today.
Also, I have a couple of random "upsets"...UTEP beating Butler, BYU beating Florida, Missouri beating Clemson. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason behind these choices either, so should be interesting!
Apparently all of a sudden I've become obsessed with college basketball! I wonder how my small, but faithful, blog audience filled out their brackets. Any random "upsets"? Who's going to Indy? Who is cutting down the nets? (I think that one will be easy to answer, given everyone who reads my blog is a Kentucky fan!)
Awesome. Ok...so let the games begin!
I didn't fill out a bracket this year :( very unlike me. I happen to love college basketball. Thanks for updating your blog. Add
