Happy 2011!!!
I picked my verse of 2011...2 Timothy 1:7 "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."
Another translation reads: "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control"
And another one: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
I realized I need some self-discipline, self-control, sound mind in various parts of my life: my priorities, time management, use of resources, food, health, mental thought processes, prayers...the possibilities are endless! And since God did such a good job with making my 2010 verse of the year come true, thought I'd put another request in for 2011! :-)
Changing subjects.
I got a subscription to Runner's World magazine as a Christmas Gift from my sister and brother-in-law and my first copy came in the mail yesterday!!! I read this in the Q/A section:
(Runner's World - February 2011 edition)
Q: Which marathon earns the title for being the coldest?
A: In 2007, astronaut Suni Williams ran a marathon tethered to a treadmill on the International Space Station. Taking place in low-Earth orbit, that was easily the coldest marathon ever. Back on terra firma, however, the North Pole Marathon takes the title. When it's held, in April, temps average between -22 degrees F and -13 degrees F. By the way, the North Pole Marathon technically is run on water--the course is on six to 12 feet of ice over the Artic Ocean. How cool is that?
Don't tell me that's not cool. Crazy, maybe. But definitely cool. (Absolutely no pun intended there!)
So, all that said, I'm hoping to start running again this year. I can't even run a mile right now...my half-mile jog is not even pretty. I've got some 5k races on the calendar for end of February, April, and May...so my goal is to build myself back up to "normal' (whatever that is) in the next few weeks! I'm already sore, and it's the best feeling!
I'm hopeful I get to drop small, random posts like this throughout the year......very hopeful.....I would hate to disappoint my small, but faithful, blog community!
Sweet dreams.
