2 posts in 3 days? Aren't you proud of me? In all honesty though, the idea for today's post just came to me while I was browsing through some old pictures yesterday and I couldn't resist.
But before that, one question: Don't you love browsing through old pictures? It's one of my favorite things to do. The summer after I moved back home from college, I had so much time on my hands that I sorted through ALL my pictures, organized them chronologically, printed newer pictures off my computer (since our recent transition into the "digital age"), stacked them neatly in photo boxes, and labeled each box. I ended up with 3 *completely* full boxes. 3 doesn't sound like much, but considering they hold at least 1,000 photos each...I would say sorting through 3,000 photos is a lot. I can't pinpoint what I love most about photos. Is it the people from the past, with whom I've lost touch? Is it the memories? May it's just the sheer act of reminiscing.
I probably take SO many pictures because the majority of my pictures taken from childhood are G-O-N-E...GONE! Sadness. They didn't make it across the Atlantic with me when I moved here 17 years ago. And since my grandparents' passing, trying to find out which family member has them is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Maybe someday they'll show up. Maybe. Until then, I will try to make up for it by taking an excessive amount of pictures of my own!
I love pictures. Taking them, printing them, looking them (over and over and over), the different types of cameras, lens, zoom - you name it. Photography in general exhilarates me! I am convinced this will be a more proficient hobby of mine some day. But for now, I'll stick with my Nikon CoolPix. Ok, ok, I know...you get it...I love photography.
Now the really good part. Remember when I said I was browsing through some old pictures yesterday? I found THE FUNNIEST pictures of me and my dear friend Christina.
Before we get started here, I will tell you that she gave me full permission to post these! And don't ask *why* we took these pictures. Christina explained it best: we took the pictures because "it seemed like a good idea at the time." 'nuf said. At least they're entertaining!
Picture #1: Hostess Products
When: October 2007, C-Group Halloween Party
Where: Whitlock's Home
Why: Because I had 2 (not 1, but 2) different Hostess halloween outfits and we needed fun (semi-matching?), easy-to-assemble costumes for our C-Group Halloween party!
Picture #2: Party Like A Rock Star
When: October 2006, Erin's Halloween Theme Party
Where: Erin's House
Why: (a) because we had to dress up as rock stars for Halloween (b) we're cool.
I actually don't even know which rock star I dressed up to be. Christina was of course Christina (Aguilera). Me on the other hand, there is no telling. Britney? (She wouldn't wear long-sleeves EVER, right?) Madonna? (I think she is paler than I). Maybe I'm Poorna, like Madonna...I'm "Poorna"...my own self-made rock star.
Oh, I also have to say, these wigs are absolutely nasty. I found mine stashed in a plastic bag at the very back corner of my top closet shelf. And the wig reared its ugly head (haha - no pun intended) when I moved 4 weeks ago. I didn't know what was in the plastic bag, and when I looked inside, it literally gave me a fright! (For a split second, I thought it was a dead animal - sick!). Then I took it out and the memory of this Halloween outfit came back. Ah - memories!
Picture #3: The Trail Starts Here!
When: October (?) 2008
Where: Trail Mix Crunch Promotional Photo Booth (Indiana State Fair)
Why: Because we are spontaneous! And we really wanted to say we've been white water rafting at a state fair!
Picture #4: State Fair Toys
When: October (?) 2008
Where: My (old) Apartment
Why: Because we found some pretty valuable purchases at the Indiana State Fair and just had to show them off.
I should point out that we are sporting Coach bags + Harley Davidson sunglasses (me) and Baby Phat sunglasses (Christina).
You decide whether you think the Coach purses real or faux. I will tell you that the sunglasses are most certainly REAL. ;-)
Speaking of sunglasses...
Picture #5: When you go to Lynn's, you must try on some glasses.
When: Summer 2008
Where: Lynn's Paradise Cafe
Why: Because the glasses were just sitting on the shelves, screaming our names.
Picture #6: Large Hands
When: Summer 2008
Where: Lynn's Paradise Cafe - Patio
Why: Because who else wouldn't want to sit in giant colorful hands?
This is probably the most "normal" pictures of the bunch, and a rather cute one of us!
There you have it. Some of the silliest pictures I could find of me and my Siesta. She is so great for (a) taking these silly pictures with me (b) letting me post them and laughing at it with me and (c) being the GREAT friend! Miles away, it still feels like we're in the same city sometimes.
Christina - I hope you enjoyed the entry!
And Jilly - Thank you for introducing me to Christina way back in the ole' college days!
I'm so thankful for both of you ladies! (Phil 1:3).

Those are really entertaining pics! I can only imagine in 15 years showing thos to yourkids and saying, "This is your mother!" Haha~ No, they really are cute pics! I am very proud of your more consistent blogging! Hope all is well and can't wait to see you soon!
